Latest generation G-Shock Frogman. I had the previous version of Frogman GWF 1000 and where there are comparisons in this review that's what its against.
This is an awesome robust G-Shock watch. The price is really expensive. It is competing against a well specs'ed Apple Watch or a Tissot. So what does it buy you? The fact that it doesn't look money is a real advantage if you are travelling.
For a dumb watch, this Frogman is remarkably well specc'ed. You have radio / atomic clock functionality, solar charging of the watch. Dive meter, digital compass and temperature gauge.
The screen is brightly lit with an LED.
Compared to the previous version I had, this watch is thicker. It is also much better made with a sapphire glass and better screws on the strap. The case seems to be more substantial with less plastic in the case. The strap has carbon fibre reinforcement.
Overall its a great watch, my one niggle is that you can't have a dual time view on the home screen like you used to be able to do with the previous Frogman. Its a small thing for most people, but it irritated the hell out of me and turns the Frogman from a must-have travellers watch to a merely good one.
